US to deploy troops to Lithuania – By the end of October…

The US military presence in Lithuania will remain at its current level, while the number of American troops in Europe will decrease.

TodayPress TV reports that Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda made the remarks while speaking about the security situation.

“Unlike Lithuania, where the level of presence will remain the same, the number of American troops in Europe will be lower. The US administration is sending us signals that Europeans should take greater responsibility for their own security,” he emphasized.

According to a statement issued by Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence last week, two US Army battalions will arrive in the Baltic republic by the end of October. One will be a heavy battalion equipped with military hardware, including Abrams tanks, while the other will be an engineering battalion. The total number of personnel is expected to be approximately 1,000 service members.
