Former minister Salim Müslümov starts teaching after release from prison – EXCLUSIVE

Former Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Salim Müslümov has started working as an economics lecturer at the National Aviation Academy.

According to TodayPress TV, S. Müslümov previously served as head of the academy’s Department of World Economy in 2019.

It should be noted that Salim Müslümov served as Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population from 2013 to 2018 and as chairman of the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) from 2002 to 2013.

The former minister, who holds a Doctor of Economics degree, was detained by the State Security Service (SSS) in February 2021. He was arrested on charges of embezzlement, abuse of office and accepting large-scale bribes.

During the investigation, the pre-trial detention measure imposed on S. Müslümov was replaced with house arrest, taking into account that he had paid a large portion of the damage caused and his health problems. Later, he was given a suspended sentence by a ruling of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.
