Mercedes dominates Baku: George Russell denies rivals a chance in second practice

Mercedes driver George Russell posted the fastest time in the second free practice session of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, clocking 1:43.347. He finished 0.552 seconds ahead of his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

TodayPress TV reports that this marks the first time in Russell’s career that he has topped both practice sessions. It is also the second such achievement of the season, after Antonelli accomplished the feat in Austria.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen finished third, 0.827 seconds behind the leader.

Mercedes dominated the second practice session. All other drivers, including Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, were more than one second off the pace set by the leader.

The top three in the second free practice session were:
