Big La Liga appointment: Javier Aguirre arrives to pull Valencia out of the relegation zone

Experienced football coach Javier Aguirre will continue his career at Spanish club Valencia.

TodayPress TV reports, citing the La Liga club’s official website, that the 67-year-old Mexican coach has signed a contract until the end of the current season.

The agreement also includes an option to extend the contract for another year.

Aguirre’s most recent job was as head coach of the Mexico national team. He led the national side to the round of 16 at the most recent World Cup. During his coaching career, he has managed Spanish clubs Atlético Madrid, Espanyol, Leganés and Mallorca. At international level, he has also coached the national teams of Japan and Egypt.

It should be noted that Valencia are 19th in the La Liga standings with five points after seven rounds.
