Manchester City in trouble: Could be expelled from the Premier League

Manchester City could face the threat of being expelled from the English Premier League.

TodayPress TV reports, citing The Athletic, that the club has been found guilty of all but one of the 115 charges brought against it over alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.

The punishment to be imposed on the club has not yet been determined. Possible sanctions include a fine, a points deduction, and even Manchester City’s expulsion from the Premier League.

According to the report, the club is expected to appeal the decision. Manchester City, meanwhile, has consistently denied the allegations.

The charges against the club were brought in February 2023 and cover the period from 2009 to 2018. The allegations include failing to provide accurate financial information, as well as breaches of UEFA and Premier League financial regulations.

Under the ownership of Sheikh Mansour, Manchester City have won numerous domestic competitions and also claimed the UEFA Champions League title.
