US warns Iran over September 23: What will happen?
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said that the operations of Iranian airlines worldwide will be severely restricted starting September 23.
TodayPress TV reports that, according to Bessent, foreign airports and companies providing services to Iranian airlines could also face secondary sanctions from the United States.
He said entities that refuel Iranian aircraft, provide landing services or sell tickets for Iranian airlines would risk being cut off from the US dollar-based financial system.
“If they land, you cannot provide them with fuel, landing services or sell them tickets. Otherwise, you will be cut off from the dollar system,” Bessent said.
According to the US official, Washington is increasing pressure on Iran’s aviation sector and seeking to prevent foreign companies from cooperating with Iranian airlines.
