White House cameras go dark as Trump events are left without live coverage

Major television networks that are part of the White House press pool in the United States have refused to provide live coverage of events attended by President Donald Trump.

TodayPress TV reports, citing Politico, that the newspaper published the information based on a letter from Brian Bouton, head of Fox News’ Washington bureau.

Bouton said the networks had made the decision in protest against restrictions placed on the access of several media outlets to the White House. According to him, starting September 21, presidential events that are scheduled to be broadcast as part of the television pool will not be covered.

According to the newspaper, the decision came after the Trump administration revoked White House access for journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico. In addition to CNN, the White House television press pool includes Fox News, CBS, ABC and NBC.

Politico notes that the White House schedule released on September 20 for September 21 did not specify which television network would be responsible for providing live coverage of the president’s events. The networks’ refusal to cover Trump’s activities as part of the press pool could also create difficulties in distributing photographs and videos related to his participation in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

It should be recalled that on September 18, Trump announced that he had revoked White House access for journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico, accusing the outlets of publishing false information about his administration. Although the president said the list of media organizations barred from access could be expanded, he did not rule out the possibility of reversing the decision. On September 19, restrictions were imposed on access to the White House for the correspondents and technical staff of the three media organizations.
