Russia has resorted to a new method to recruit people from foreign countries for its war against Ukraine.
TodayPress TV reports that this time, African men are being offered opportunities to participate in film productions. Advertisements published under the headline “Global casting. New film project. Africans wanted for male roles” are reportedly targeting mainly young men who are unable to find employment.
According to the information, people brought to Russia with various promises are subsequently sent to the front. Africa-based nonprofit organization Code for Africa has identified 89 websites, seven social media accounts and 39 accounts and channels on messaging platforms used by Russia for this purpose.
It is reported that citizens of India, Sri Lanka, Cuba, Kenya, Nepal, Botswana, South Africa and other countries have also been recruited for the war in Ukraine using this method.
