Netanyahu sends message to Iran from Mount Hermon summit: “The entire axis will collapse!”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has climbed to the summit of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights of Syria and said that his country intends to “destroy Iran.”

It was reported that Netanyahu was accompanied by Israeli soldiers and Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz during the visit.

“On the eve of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year, celebrated this year on September 12–13 – ed.), we are at the summit of Mount Hermon. Damascus is here, Lebanon is here, the Syrian Golan Heights are here, and from the summit of Hermon, we control the entire area from here to the Yarmouk River, and from there to the Mediterranean Sea. Absolute control like never before. We will not allow any terrorist army to establish itself on our borders,” the Prime Minister stressed.

According to him, Israel still has “a lot of work to do” in the military and political spheres in the region, with regime change in Tehran being identified as a priority:

“The main task is to destroy the regime in Iran. We are very close to this. We know that ultimately the entire axis (Tehran’s allies in the region – ed.) will collapse. We are determined to achieve this, and we will,” Netanyahu claimed.

It should be noted that with its highest point standing at 2,814 metres above sea level, the Hermon massif is the highest peak of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range. It is located on the border of Lebanon and Syria, and Israel, which has controlled part of the Golan Heights since 1967, when it seized the territory, controls part of the massif.

The summit of Mount Hermon is the highest point on the Syrian map. It is also a key peak for Israel, which considers its southern slopes sovereign territory, and the country’s only ski resort operating during peacetime is located there.
