Number of Ukrainian citizens missing in Nepal rises to 64

The number of Ukrainian citizens missing following severe floods and landslides in Nepal has reached 64, TodayPress TV reported, citing Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Currently, there are no reports of Ukrainians among the dead or injured. Ukraine’s Consular Service Department remains in constant contact with the families of the missing and local emergency authorities.

A dedicated team of consular officials from the Ukrainian Embassy in India has already arrived in Nepal. Search and rescue operations are being conducted daily from early morning. However, heavy fog has restricted air operations primarily to the morning hours.

Meanwhile, professional firefighting and rescue teams have reached the central area of the Kyirong (Jirong) border crossing on the Chinese side—one of the hardest-hit zones. More than 2,000 personnel and over 300 units of heavy equipment have been deployed to the area.

Emergency efforts remain severely hampered by extensive destruction and the ongoing risk of further landslides. At the request of the Ukrainian Embassy in India, Interpol sent formal queries to the operator of geolocation devices carried by several of the missing citizens. Search teams have retrieved the last coordinates recorded prior to the disaster, and technical teams are actively working to track the devices' current location to guide rescue teams.
