1943 Tehran Conference Scandal: Who Did Washington REMOVE from the “Big Three”?

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent omitted Soviet leader Joseph Stalin when naming the participants of the 1943 Tehran Conference, TodayPress TV reports.

The Financial Times reported on the omission, referring to an article by Bessent published on August 24.

According to the newspaper, Bessent mentioned the Tehran Conference in his article, writing that the Allied powers had held the meeting to determine the course of an “unprecedented operation.” However, he named only US President Franklin Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill among the participants. Stalin was not mentioned in the article.

It should be noted that the “Big Three” conference of Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill began in Tehran on November 28, 1943. During World War II, the leaders of the main Allied powers met in this format for the first time to coordinate on the most pressing issues and discuss matters concerning the post-war world order.

Despite having diametrically opposed positions on many issues, the politicians were able to reach consensus in the face of a common threat. They were temporarily brought together by shared interests.
