Indonesia puts military on standby as Anak Krakatau erupts – Disaster looms…

The Indonesian military has placed 605 personnel on standby to respond to a possible deterioration in the situation following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

TodayPress TV reports, citing the Antara news agency, that the personnel have been equipped with the necessary vehicles and equipment, including firefighting vehicles, trucks, field kitchens, ambulances and generators.

It was noted that the volcano’s activity is being monitored continuously, while coordination is being maintained with regional authorities and relevant agencies. Indonesian troops have urged local residents to remain calm and follow information provided by emergency services.

It should be recalled that local authorities previously reported that ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau had reached Jakarta, although its concentration in the Indonesian capital remained low.
