Are the Houthis retreating? Battle for Bab el-Mandeb – VIDEO

Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi Arabia have announced that they have taken control of a large part of the strategic Dhubab district near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

TodayPress TV reports, citing Reuters, that government forces, with air support from the Saudi-led coalition, are advancing in the area and seeking to strengthen control over Bab el-Mandeb.

A spokesperson for the Yemeni army said that government forces had captured the Bab el-Mandeb area and Dhubab airport.

The Houthis, however, denied these reports, saying that government forces had made no progress in the Bab el-Mandeb area.

It should be noted that Bab el-Mandeb is one of the key maritime passages connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and is of strategic importance to international shipping.
