Russia warns Armenia over gas
Armenia will not be able to find more favorable terms for purchasing gas than those offered by Russia.
According to information from TodayPress TV citing foreign media, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Armenia currently cannot obtain the preferential terms for gas purchases offered by Russia anywhere else. The ministry noted that switching to market-based gas prices could place an additional burden on Armenia’s budget.
Meanwhile, Mikhail Kalugin, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Fourth Department for CIS countries, said that possible financial support from the European Union could be provided in the form of a loan. According to him, this could increase Armenia’s debt burden.
